Exiting times are here again. In about 10 hours ccp should be finished patching and we have a lot of changes and add-ons to discover. I'm very curious how the changes will effect me, my corp and the Eve community as a whole and calculate, discover and implement the changes that will have to be made to be a succesful pilot in Eve
However, as i know the way this forum works and a lot of players are, i also anticipate a lot of complaints and whines about how ccp could destroy the game we all love etc, etc. So, to prevent at least some posts with whinings, i write to you this topic and some suggestions and advice how deal with your discomfort:
1. Maybe the patch isn't completely finished in time. If so, don't start complaining that you have a skill trained and that you can't change it. Maybe you should have a longer skill-training set? Don't complain about your wasted $0.20 cents extra either. Frankly, that sort of posts isn't constructive and probably nobody cares about it.
2. When you finally log in right after the server goes up, after having had a few light heart attacks because you weren't able to play Eve for over 24 hours, don't start complaining if the server goes down again. We will all notice it, so it is no news. Also, don't complain you were 'in the midst of deadspace'when suddenly the server went down. After a huge patch, it isn't very smart to start missioning the 1st hour or so the server is up. Furthermore, that sort of posts isn't constructive and probably nobody cares about it.
3. When you find out that a lot of skill training is wasted because they nerfed NOS, don't start complaining. Nerfing happens, it's part of this game. CCP probably thought it over for some time, which means that they think it's for the best. Rather think about what a nerf means for your opponents and think of a way of taking advantage of it.
4. Don't threat about leaving the game if ccp won't rollback the changes because you don't like it. Except a lot of cihys replies, nobody really cares and it's not at all constructive.
5. Remember this is a game. A game should be challenging, and an expansion gives a lot of new (or revised) challenges to you. Take them as a challenge and try to overcome them. That way you can actually have fun with changes that looked very bad in the 1st place.
6. Pretty please, don't mention ccp did all these changes just to comfort BOB. It's just so stupid to even think it that i won't write anything more about it.
7. If you do have feedback that you feel is useful for ccp to have a look at, write them in a format like the following: * issue * reason why this is bad NOTE: I think developpers want to know reasons that are bad for the GAME, not FOR YOU. A reason like 'it screws up my business' isn't very good, while a reason like 'it will be extremely hard for new players' is better. * suggestions for improvement NOTE: If you feel something is bad, please suggest some actions that can be taken to actually improve the issue. If you do that, you will probably be taken more serious anyway, as you prove you actually THOUGHT about it before you went into 'complaining mode.' Also, your chances improve that something will happen.
I thought about some other things as well, but forgot about them.
To summarize: - Give feedback, no whines - Think about the effect on other players too - Be constructive (think WITH ccp instead of AGAINST ccp) - Be reasonable
